DESCRIPTION:HOW YOGA WORKS: \nUnderstanding the Science and Research on Yoga and its Benefit for Stress\, Anxiety\, Sleep\, Prevention and Wellness \nIn person lecture with Sat Bir Singh Khalsa \nSat Bir Singh Khalsa is one of the world’s leading experts on Yoga and Research. In this talk he will explain in everyday language what science is telling us and answer questions from the audience. Whilst referring to research on yoga in general\, he will also include information about clinical trials using Kundalini Yoga practices. \nSuitable for yoga students\, teachers and therapists and anyone with an interest in the possible benefits of yoga. \nMore information about the talk: \nYoga is an ancient behavioral practice that allows for the development of the skills of mind-body awareness or mindfulness\, self-regulation of internal physiological and psychological state\, and physical fitness.  Yoga is becoming increasingly popular as a behavioral strategy for the promotion and maintenance of health and wellness\, as preventive medicine\, and also as an adjunct therapeutic intervention.  This presentation will overview the scientific evidence on the underlying mechanisms of yoga practice supporting the rationale for these applications of yoga\, and will describe how it can improve stress management\, mental health\, sleep\, chronic disease prevention and symptoms\, wellness\, and overall quality of life. \nPlease book your ticket in advance. \nPricing \nPlease select your own pricing tier. He has conducted scientific yoga research since 2001 on yoga for insomnia\, stress\, anxiety disorders\, and workplace and school settings and is a practitioner/instructor of Kundalini Yoga since 1973. He coordinates the annual Symposium on Yoga Research\, is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Yoga Therapy\, medical editor of the Harvard report Introduction to Yoga\, and chief editor of the medical textbook The Principles and Practice of Yoga in Health Care.
