Testimonials

St.Mungo’s, 2 Hilldrop
St Mungo’s opens doors for homeless people, providing emergency accommodation, support towards recovery and helping to prevent rough sleeping.

Hilldrop Road provides accommodation and support to older men with alcohol and mental health problems, many of who have also experienced homelessness. GRDP have been running a successful and popular yoga class at Hilldrop since 2005.

Participants receive a range of benefits, including physical exercise, an opportunity for relaxation, group discussions and the ever-popular warm up games. Some quotes from participants:

“I know that it is good for me. I enjoy the exercise”

“We don’t always agree, but I like doing the movements”

“She finishes with stories now and some are very good”

“It’s interesting, just being with the other guys, relaxing and exercising”.

“We pass balls to each other, Yes it is very good”

“I like listening to people who aren’t fighting!”

It has been a pleasure to watch the group change and evolve as the highly skilled teacher Samsakta has responded to the requests and suggestions of the participants. Her dedication, empathy and commitment to recovery based practice have been greatly appreciated. She has been particularly adept at engaging with poorly motivated clients who do not participate in other activities.
